Fulbright-Hays Dissertation fellowship program
The US Department of Education anticipates opening the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad fellowship application competition by the end of May. If you are graduate student (US citizen or permanent resident) planning on applying for this grant and you have not contacted Erin Crawley, the UW-Madison Fulbright-Hays DDRA Project Director, please do so.
The campus deadline cannot be set until the national (institutional) deadline has been announced. There will only be 2-3 weeks between publication of the grant competition and the campus deadline. The campus deadline is the required deadline by which individual student applicants MUST submit a complete application (including all letters of recommendation and language evaluations). There will be no exceptions to the campus deadline. Check https://www.federalregister.gov/agencies/education-department for notification of the grant opening.
After the competition has opened, updated campus information and materials will be available here, http://fellowships.international.wisc.edu/fulbright-hays-doctoral-dissertation-research-abroad/. An email will go out to graduate students who have notified me of their intent to apply with the campus deadline; the deadline will also be posted on the fellowships site.
The Fulbright-Hays DDRA provides grants to colleges and universities to fund individual doctoral students who conduct research in other countries, in modern foreign languages and area studies for periods of six to 12 months. Projects deepen research knowledge on and help the nation develop capability in areas of the world not generally included in U.S. curricula. Projects focusing on Western Europe are not supported.
