Gibbs awarded third SIRE grant

Holly Gibbs; Assistant Professor, Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, Center for Sustainability and the Global EnvironmentCongratulations to Prof. Holly Gibbs for winning a 2015 Sustainability Innovation in Research and Education (SIRE) award for her proposal, Solutions for Food Waste Reduction: Integrating Teaching with Research on Sustainability.

This grant from the UW Office of Sustainabilty (OS) will fund the development of a module on food waste for Geog 309 “People, Land, and Food” this semester and a new, interdisciplinary undergraduate capstone course on Local to Global Solutions to Reduce Food Waste in Spring 2016. Her proposal builds on two prior awards from the Office of Sustainability that had highly successful outcomes including the recently launched “Campus Food Map and Sustainable Dining Guide” on the OS website.
