Limited Term Lecturer - Labour Studies; Simon Fraser University

Job Description:

The Labour Studies Program at Simon Fraser University invites applications for a two-year Limited Term Lecturer position commencing September 1, 2017. We seek a candidate who has an established record as an outstanding instructor and is enthusiastic about teaching at Simon Fraser University.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Labour Studies or a related discipline (such as Sociology, Labour Law, Political Science, History, Geography, Gender or Women’s Studies, or Economics) at the time of appointment. We welcome applications from those engaged in research and teaching with Indigenous workers and First Nations, as well as applicants who are experienced working with labour organizations or unions. Demonstrated experience of teaching research methods, and of developing and implementing new courses, will be looked on favorably. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of one new lower division and one new upper division course.

Responsibilities:

The expected course load is 8 courses per academic year, over 3 semesters. We are particularly interested in candidates with demonstrated research and teaching expertise related to the following courses:

LBST 101 - Introducing Labour Studies
LBST 230 - Special Topics in Labour Studies: The Politics of Labour
LBST 301W - Labour Movements: Contemporary Issues and Images
