Assistant Professor - Global Environment; University of Oklahoma

Job Summary & Duties:

The University of Oklahoma’s Department of International and Area Studies, a multidisciplinary academic department in the expanding College of International Studies, invites applications for a new Assistant Professor position focused on the global environment beginning August 2018. We are particularly interested in candidates working on the historical, social, political, economic or geographic dimensions of environmental issues, climate change, and social movements for addressing environmental and climate challenges.

The person hired for this position will teach thematic undergraduate and MA-level courses in their area of expertise, including courses that are global or regional in focus. We hope to welcome a new colleague with a demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusion and mentoring members of underrepresented groups. The teaching load will be two courses per semester (2-2).

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in hand by the time of appointment. We are particularly interested in scholars working on the historical, social, political, economic or geographic dimensions of environmental issues, climate change, and social movements for addressing environmental and climate challenges. The person hired for this position will teach thematic undergraduate and MA-level courses in their area of expertise, including courses that are global or regional in focus.

The appointment will begin on August 16, 2018. Applicants should submit a letter of application, statements of teaching and research interests, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, transcripts, complete teaching evaluations for at least one class, and a writing sample.
