Areas Not Available for Development in Dane County
Objective: Determine what areas that are currently not available for
development within cities, townships, villages, and incorporated areas
within Dane County.
Description: This project will use information and data from the Dane
County Regional Planning Commission (DCRPC) to delineate areas that are
not available for development in Dane County. These areas will include
Environmental Corridors, which consist of continuous open spaces in urban
areas that include environmentally sensitive lands and natural resources
requiring protection from disturbance and development. These areas are
not available for development because of either DCRPC and city/ township
resolution or the presence of several geographic features. These
features include wetlands, woodlands, hydrography, steep slopes, and
public lands. The focus of this project is limited to areas within city,
township, village, or incorporated area boundaries in Dane County.
The project results can be used by DCRPC, local government, state and
federal agencies to make decision on the location of future urban
development in Dane County.
