The MMSD plans to initiate a 4-year-old kindergarten program in the fall of 2003 with the classes located in existing school buildings. We will determine suitable schools to house the program.
Families all over Madison use and need early childhood programs. The majority of 4 year old children are enrolled in some sort of early child hood program. The MMSD and the day care community will work together for the first time to use both facilities in order to house this innovative program. The district wishes to use existing space within public schools as well as provide on-site programs in day care centers and other early childhood program providers.
Our area of study will focus entirely on all the schools pertaining to the Madison Metropolitan School District jurisdiction and the daycare centers in Madison.
The major tasks will be finding the distribution of schools and students, determining the capacity of the schools,and allocating the students to the potential program sites.
