Geography 170: Our Digital Globe

This course is an introduction to Geographic Information Science (GIScience) and explores the tools and technologies for acquiring, analyzing, managing, and displaying geographic information. It introduces a variety of geospatial technologies and tools, including geographic information systems (GIS), global positioning systems (GPS), remote sensing, spatial analysis, and cartography (the science and art of mapmaking). Although GEOG 170 is a non-specialist course, it provides the foundation for various upper-level GIS, GPS, remote sensing, cartography, and web-animated cartography courses.
