What is your role in GISPP?
I’m the Graduate Program Manager. I coordinate the programs and support students from admissions through graduation. This includes things like processing applications, onboarding students, checking student enrollment, and advising on course options. Basically, I’m here to support students and ensure their success in our programs!
What path led you to your role?
I first came to UW-Madison as a graduate student in the Global Higher Education program. I had such a great experience that I knew I wanted to eventually work on campus in a professional position. But after graduating, I moved to Florida Atlantic University where I worked with English as a Second Language students before returning to UW. Most recently, I was the Graduate Program Manager for a PhD program on campus, which led me to my new position with GISPP.
What’s your favorite map?
My favorite map is of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore because it’s an area I would visit every summer growing up. As a kid, I loved to look at the islands on the map and see the hiking trails and lighthouses. I also appreciate that the original Ojibwe place names were added to the map, honoring the people and history of the area.
Where is your favorite place to spend time in Madison? In the world?
My favorite place in Madison is anywhere near the lakes! I also love the view of the city from Olin Park.
My favorite place in the world is in the mountains of the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica.
When you’re not at work, what are you doing?
I’m usually at a park, taking a hike with my husband and dog!
