Virtual GIS Lab – Your Connection to the Community

At the start of the semester, or right before it begins, you will receive an email invitation to join the Virtual GIS Lab. It looks just like your other classes in many ways, as it is a Canvas course.

The Virtual GIS Lab is our Community Site. (Sometimes referred to as a “Community of Practice” site.)

This is where all professional students, regardless of their program, can intermingle, connect, and help one another out.

We believe in letting this be largely student run. Therefore, YOU have control over the site. Create your own discussions, tangents, and post. It is a great place to post jobs, solicit interest in new projects or competitions, and just mingle and chat about everything from the latest movies to the impact of new GIS technologies.

Think of this space as a real GIS Lab. When the teachers are away, extra-curricular discussions, opportunities, and thoughts come up. It is a chance to socialize. Sometimes the instructors pop in and say hi too. 🙂

The only rule? No trolling! No bullying. No insulting language.

Please contribute and interact as much as you like with your fellow students and alumni.
