Which Courses Should I Take?

Though the classes we offer does change semester-by-semester, some things are consistent. We aim to provide the courses you need to graduate as timely as possible.

This includes offering most courses at least twice a year (two out of three terms). Regardless of whether you attend part- or full-time, there should be course options available to you.

Note to Online Master’s Students: Geog 777 and Geog 778  are generally offered whenever you need to take them.

Online Master’s Curriculum Guide

For online master’s students, the following course progression is preferred. It is possible to take concurrent courses at times, of course.

Some courses with their prerequisites are laid out crudely below:

Geog 378: Geocomputing –> Geog 574: Spatial Database –> Geog 576: Spatial Web

–> Geog 575: Interactive Geovisualization

Geog 572: Graphic Design for Cartography (useful to take before 575 but not mandatory)

Geog 579: Spatial Analysis (just all around useful, but not a prerequisite for any other courses, except Geog 777, 778)

Conclude the program with Geog 777 and Geog 778 taken one after another or concurrently.
