Congrats to assistant professor Rob Roth who has received a prestigious NSF CAREER award.

Rob’s CAREER project integrates research and teaching around the topics of interactive, online, and mobile map design, and directly serves the emerging profession of UI/UX design, for which cartographers and geographers are uniquely positioned to fill. The project culminates in an open access e-textbook on interactive mapping, and will provide support for several geography students to design illustrations and interactives in the text.

Rob would like to thank past and present students Richard Donohue, Katie Kowalsky, Rashauna Mead, Chelsea Nestel, Caroline Rose, Carl Sack, Zihan Song, and Robin Tolochko for their efforts on formative stages of research and instructional design leading to the CAREER, and Tanya Buckingham and Kris Olds for their support of the project.
