Our undergraduate and graduate curricula are organized around the subareas of physical, human, and people-and-environment geography and cartography/GIS. Through course requirements and course content, undergraduate and graduate students are urged to develop an understanding of the breadth of geography and the common features of a geographical approach while developing sufficient depth of knowledge within a particular subarea. The design and content of our courses are shaped by our department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion with its emphasis on continued pedagogical (un)learning and improvement of our teaching. Leaning in our department occurs not only within the classroom but outside through the involvement of students in research and community outreach activities.
