We are currently working toward discontinuing our online certificates and degree (GIS Fundamentals Capstone Certificate, Advanced GIS Capstone Certificate, Master of Science in Cartography & GIS—GIS Development). We anticipate that admissions will be suspended beginning with the Summer 2025 semester.
We will continue to offer our in-person accelerated / non-thesis Master of Science in Cartography & GIS. We will also continue to provide best-in-class support to our students—bringing in expert speakers for our Map Chats, sharing student successes and projects across our network, and offering professional development opportunities for in-person students via semester-long fellowships in the Wisconsin State Cartographer’s Office, the UW Cart Lab, and the Robinson Map Library.
We remain 100% committed to ensuring that all currently enrolled online students are able to complete their certificate or degree with the same quality curriculum, instruction, and guidance that we have always provided. As part of this process, we’ve been working with each student to chart a path to completion for all remaining coursework.
Discontinuing our online programs is a decision that has not been made lightly. We believe that GIS and cartography play a crucial role in today’s world, and we deeply regret that we will no longer be able to play as significant a role in educating and shaping professionals in the field.
