An alumnus returns for the last Map Chat of Fall 2026! Join us via Zoom on Monday, December 7 at 3 p.m. Central time to hear from Abdullah Ameen, who studied in our accelerated / non-thesis master’s program.
In this Map Chat, Abdullah will share his journey into GIS, from discovering its potential to applying it in professional settings, particularly in civil engineering. The audience will learn how GIS can bridge geospatial analysis and engineering, and how education and hands-on experience can inspire new approaches to automating workflows, improving data visualization, and making some simple GIS applications that can solve real world problems.
About Abdullah
Abdullah Ameen held a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and had accumulated more than 15 years of experience in infrastructure development, project and program management, international development, and education before joining GISPP in 2018. He received his master’s degree in Cartography & GIS in 2020 and currently works as a GIS Data Analytics Manager.
