Dane County Soil Survey using SoLIM - a
Discovery Prototype
This project is to update the soil survey of Dane County, WI. using the SoLIM approach. The objective of this project is to develop a discovery prototype for improving the quality and efficiency of soil survey, by developing a set of streamlined and operational procedures for using the SoLIM approach in soil survey.
The SoLIM approach was applied in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park soil survey.
We intend to create a training program that would permit transfer of
this important technology to the Natural Resources Conservation Service,
where it can enter routine use in soil survey work throughout the nation.
Current training sites include Arizona and Illinois.
