CURRENT RESEARCH

I study the transformation of rural and agrarian landscapes in the global South. The current focus of my work looks at the social, political and economic impacts of climate change mitigation policies in Latin America. In particular, I am interested in investigating how payment for ecosystem services (PES) policies are shaping national agrarian development pathways as well as peasant and indigenous livelihoods through the expansion of ‘green capitalism’ and market-oriented rural development projects. I am also interested in analyzing peasant and indigenous resistance to these policies.
