Acknowledgment in Volume Five
Personal donations are essential. We put every gift to good use even in these late stages of preparing Volume Five (check out our “Why Give?” page). We greatly appreciate our supporters and have been honored to recognize donors on the financial support pages in the front of each publication as it appeared, in order of publication: Volumes One, Two (books 1–3), Three, Six, and Four. We acknowledge donors by volume-specific and cumulative lifetime categories of giving, explained below.
The manuscript for Volume Five, the final book in our series, went to press in July 2025. We were able to include gifts or pledges received by spring 2025 on the financial support pages of Volume Five. We can no longer provide print recognition now that the final manuscript is in production, but we hope our friends will continue to give generously—our work is not done. We will create new opportunities to express our appreciation! Thank you.
History of Cartography Project Giving Categories
We generally recognize donors according to the total of their gifts during the period in which our work focused on a specific volume. However, donors who have donated more than $5,000 since the Project began are acknowledged in one of the lifetime supporter categories.
Categories for Cumulative Lifetime Support
Associates: $150,000 and above (cumulative)
Sponsors: $15,000–$149,999 (cumulative)
Founders: $5,000–$14,999 (cumulative)
Volume-specific categories
Benefactors: $1,000–$4,999
Patrons: $250–$999
Friends: $100–$249
